The Feminine Foodie: Thick and Creamy Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie (Dairy Free!)

Hi Loves!

I mentioned in my most recent video how I was curious to see if any of you would be interested in a "What I Eat In A Day" style video. I don't know why but I've been really wanting to share more of my homemaking journey which includes cooking and creating new recipes.

I'll be honest, I'm not great at making smoothies. Ask anyone in my life and they'll tell you, smoothies are just not my forte if I don't have a recipe to follow.

But this week, I whipped one up that was so creamy and delicious with a few leftover ingredients I had in the fridge and it was so yummy I just had to share.

It was a delicious, dairy and gluten free peanut butter & banana 🍌 smoothie!

This smoothie is packed with healthy goodies but it tastes so good and has no added sugar, so you don't have to feel guilty about indulging in it!

The frozen bananas give the smoothie that perfect icy texture, and optimal sweetness. The peanut butter aids in making it creamy and hearty, a bit of cinnamon is added which speeds up your metabolism and turmeric helps calm inflammation in the body!

I also added some flax seeds as I'm working to incorporate seed-cycling into my life. I was already adding flax seeds to my meals and dishes before I knew about this, but seed cycling is basically the idea that consuming certain seeds during different times in your cycle can help balance your hormones and aide in your overall health.

(Check out my Pinterest board called "My Life" for more information on seed cycling and cycle syncing).

Flax seeds are such ⭐️superstars⭐️ when it comes to health management. They provide lots of protein and omega-3 fatty acids along with a handful of necessary vitamins. I grind them up in the blender and add the ground seeds into my smoothies, oatmeal, soups, etc.

Also, I'd like to say that I SO wish my wooden heart-shaped spoons had come in when I made this because they would've been perfect to stir all this creamy goodness together. Now that they're here, I will definitely be using them for any future smoothie or açaí bowls I may make in the future. Because I'm Felicia and I'm obsessed with pink and heart shaped baking accessories. It's just who I am.

Anyways let me stop rambling and give you this recipe!

xo,

F.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Frozen Banana chopped **(pro tip: chop your bananas while they're fresh, throw them in ziplock sandwich bags and store in the freezer. It's perfect to pull them out when you're making smoothies and don't want to use ice!)

  • 1 Tbsp Peanut Butter **(If you have a peanut allergy, I'd suggest swapping out the peanut butter for almond butter! It would probably be just as yummy)

  • 1 1/4 Cups Oat Milk

  • 1 Tsp Cinnamon

  • 1 Tsp Ground Flax Seed

  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric

Directions:

1. Place all ingredients in a Nutribullet or blender of your choice. (If you find the smoothie is a little thick, keep adding oat milk until you reach your desired consistency.)

2. Pour into glass and top with cinnamon or more flax seed.

3. Enjoy!
